1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb italian sausage
1 large onion
1 large green pepper
3 (or more) cloves garlic
2-3 big cans crushed tomatoes (depending on how thin you want the sauce)
1 small can tomato paste
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbs (or more) italian spices
1/2 tbs sugar
Instructions
Remove sausage links from casings Mush ground beef and sausage together in a bowl (like if you were making meatloaf) Transfer meat mixture to 6qt dutch oven springkle with salt, pepper, and italian spices Brown meat and drain off grease While meat is browning dice onion and green pepper and mince garlic Add veggie mixture to meat and mix Reduce heat and cover and cook a few minutes to let vegetables sweat a little Add crushed tomatoes, sugar, and tomato paste Simmer for at least 30 minutes, but the longer the better. Alternatively once the meat is browned you can transfer all ingredients to crock-pot and cook on low several hours. Serve over pasta
