Default New puppies but no money for care

Our border collie mix had her pups (6 of them!), father is an Australian Blue Heeler and they're 5 weeks old. We are giving them away for free with the new parents to take care of any vet care.

Here's my dilemma, a couple of the pups have what looks like tapeworms and I need to get them to the vet ASAP but I do not have very much money to cover the cost (both my husband and I are unemployed - laid off) of a full exam.

I love them dearly but if you multiply the cost of an exam with six, well decision time... health of puppies or mortgage payment.

Does anyone know of any place where I can get help with little or no cost?

First thing I would think of would call the spca over on petfinder lane in Raleigh. They may be able to at least point you in the right direction of low cost. I know they helped me find low cost when I had to get a cat nuetered and also when I had to get my beagle mix microchipped.

If you are willing to give them up to where I work.... we will treat them for free, but you would have to foster them until we had room to get them spayed/neutered and put them up for adoption. No chance of euthanasia etc... pm me if you are interested.

That is an amazing offer. You are awesome LJK! I need to call Rachael to get you back over here soon. Peaches got spayed this week, but she and Coco will need to be groomed before long.

I just had my cats get fixed there, they did a great job and also did a Hernia for one of the cats..It took me over a month to get in there though..but for me it was worth the wait..I really need to give them a call and get Josie and Toby done as well.

She is feeling great. I'm having an awful time trying to keep her a little bit calmed down. I guess as long as she doesn't rip the stitches out she'll be ok. She is downright wild and so much fun. Thanks for asking.

Thanks lkj! Took the puppies over and the staff was great. The only thing we'll have a problem with is giving up the puppies once room is available. I know the SPCA will find good homes for them but I know I'll miss them. Thanks again lkj.

The people over at the Wake SPCA are really great. I still keep in touch with them almost two years after getting Laila.

I know how you will feel. Fur babies are family member, even better. They give love unconditionally. So giving one up is like losing a piece of your heart. But you know they will be healthy and loved by another.

Yea, that is hard.... but knowing they will find good homes makes it easier.

If you ever want to foster let me know! We are always looking for good homes to foster, it is usually a quick 2 week turn around! (for puppies)
